The difference between good and bad omega-3

The difference between good and bad omega-3

Omega-3 is not just one thing. There are actually 8 different fatty acids with different properties. One of them is very special and it's called EPA.

Achieve fatty acid balance with Sanomega premium

One of the most important purposes of supplementing with omega-3 oils is to create a balance between omega-6 and 3. The reason why omega-3 supplementation is so important is that much of our food contains more omega-6 than we need or benefit from. When we talk about the balance between omega-6 and omega-3, we're really talking about the balance between the omega-6 fatty acid AA and the omega-3 fatty acid EPA. These fatty acids have important properties in our body, including the regulation of inflammation, sleep, pain sensitivity, blood "stickiness" and the elasticity and cross-section of blood vessels.

The amount of omega-3 supplements we need will vary depending on several factors such as weight, activity level and diet. Which omega-3 fatty acids the supplement contains will also affect how much we need to achieve fatty acid balance. There are blood tests on the market to measure the ratio between AA and EPA. Unfortunately, these cannot be taken from your GP. We recommend that you have a maximum of twice as much AA as EPA, but no more EPA than AA. This gives a ratio of between 2/1 and 1/1 and we consider this to be the inflammation-free range. At the same time, the sum of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA should be between 8-11%, this is called the omega-3 index.

SanOmega contains natural fish oil rich in EPA, as well as fat-soluble vitamins and antioxidants. All SanOmega products provide a full daily dose of 5 g omega-3, which is the permitted upper limit that can be recommended in dietary supplements. Many years of experience have shown us that this is appropriate for the vast majority of us, provided that the majority of the omega-3 fatty acids are EPA.

In addition to this, SanOmega Premium also contains adequate amounts of vitamins A, D, E, K2(mk7) as well as the antioxidants coenzyme Q10, beta-carotene and astaxanthin.

A 21 ml daily dose of SanOmega will provide about 5 g of omega-3, of which about 3 g is EPA and 1 g is DHA. As this is a natural oil, you get the full spectrum of fatty acids naturally found in fish, so you will also find omega-3 fatty acids such as DPA and ALA.

SanOmega is produced in Norway. The fish oil is produced from wild-caught fish from a sustainably managed stock, and the process from catch to finished product is carefully controlled. The fish species used are anchovies and sardines; oil from these fish species contains the most EPA because they feed on the algae that produce EPA. At the same time, these are small fish low in the food chain, so there is little accumulation of environmental toxins in the oil.

One bottle of SanOmega Premium costs NOK 408, and you will need about two bottles a month if you take 21 ml a day. SanOmega has good discount schemes if you buy several bottles, and due to its excellent shelf life, many people choose to buy for longer periods at a time.

It's also worth noting that with such a complete product, there's little else you need to buy in addition. We dare to say that SanOmega is by far the best value for money. Finally, we'd like to mention the taste, it's fantastic! Things can be as healthy as you want them to be, but if the taste isn't good, there's a big drop-off in the number of people who choose to continue using the product.
